I just got my bag for a trip in two days and was VERY concerned from other reviews about it being smelly. It smells like Colorforms or Iron-on transfers - a distinct plastic odor. I am very sensitive about smells and do not find this terrible. I would prefer to air it out but can live with it. The bag is adorable - actually bigger than I had anticipated - fine for a long weekend trip. I do intend to carry on - if I have an issue on the plane I'll come back and let you know. I think it is worth the $.
